Fire Protection for Assisted Living Facilities

Fire Protection for Assisted Living Facilities

Complex Needs and Requirements

Assisted Living facilities present unique fire project challenges due not only to the necessity of accommodating the unique needs of residents, but also with regards to the regulatory compliance requirements. Facilities must be in compliance with both the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code (LSC), and Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) requirements.

Vibrant Assisted Living in Katy, Texas

A 91-unit luxury assisted living project located in the center of one of the most cultured suburban cities in the Houston MSA and developed by Magnificent Development

Vibrant Assisted Living was designed to provide a premium living experience for our senior residents. It offers two outdoor green spaces, an 88-seat restaurant with 24 private dining rooms, and a host of other amenities which include a beauty salon, massage room, laundry room, library, chapel, fitness center, snack shop, theatre, and concierge.

Cherokey Fire Protection design experts made sure the design and installation met the specific fire protection requirements for assisted living facilities.  Given the physically impaired population, these facilities must be in compliance with NFPA 101 Life Safety Code (LSC), and Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) requirements

Silver Crest Assisted Living and Memory Care

Silver Crest was co-founded by a woman with over 15 years of nursing experience in senior living, and a vision to provide the highest quality of life to aging adults with memory disorders. The new home consists of 14 units with 16 beds and a clubhouse.

Silver Crest practices a “resident-first” approach that prioritizes the care, safety and satisfaction of those in it’s community over business outcomes and bottom lines. They exceed required state ratios, a choice which prioritizes people, not profit. Each Silver Crest community is designed to accommodate 16 private suites to create a more spacious yet familial lifestyle to combat overcrowding and related health and safety concerns.

Cherokey Fire Protection worked with the founders to design, install and maintain fire protection and sprinkler systems that met the needs of it’s more vulnerable mentally challenged residents.
